These terms cover how KH Field Notes is published and used, what you can rely on when you read a post, and where our responsibility ends. They apply to every page on this site, including blog posts, tool notes and reader replies.
KH Field Notes publishes written accounts of trade work, tool testing and small business practice, mostly from Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape. Posts describe what happened on a specific job with specific materials. They are editorial records, not a service agreement, a quote, or a substitute for a site visit by a qualified person.
You may read, print and share posts for your own work or study. Republishing full articles, reselling our material lists, or presenting our photographs as your own job records is not allowed without written permission. Short quotes with a link back to the original page are fine.
Any method, mix ratio or fixing detail you take from a post must be checked against the manufacturer's instructions, your local building regulations and the actual condition of the wall, roof or substrate in front of you. Trade work carries risk. You remain responsible for your own safety, your crew, your compliance and the quality of what you hand over to a client.
We write carefully, but we cannot guarantee that a technique that worked on one Highveld or coastal job will work on yours. KH Field Notes is not liable for loss, damage, injury, failed inspections or disputed invoices that follow from applying something you read here. Where a post touches on structural, electrical or plumbing work, treat it as background reading and bring in a registered professional.
If you send job photos, questions or guest notes to the editor, you confirm the material is yours to share and that it contains no client information you are not allowed to publish. We may edit for length and clarity, and we may hold a submission until it fits a relevant post. We do not pay for unsolicited submissions and we are not obliged to publish them.
We may update these terms as the site grows, and the current version always sits on this page. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised wording. We may also remove posts, close comments or block access where content is copied, scraped or used to mislead readers about who did the work.
